Family of Billy Lucas to sue school

gaywrites:

Billy Lucas was 15 when he died by suicide in 2010 because he was bullied for being perceived to be gay. Two years later, his mother is suing the school that didn’t step in.

The suit claims Lucas was bullied for his ADHD, his ethnicity and his perceived sexual orientation, arguing that his school did not protect him and may even have contributed to his harassment.

Greensburg Community Junior High School’s Principal Rodney King, Assistant Principal David Strouse and school employees Iris Ramp and Darci Kovacic are directly implicated in the suit.

The suit states, “King and Strouse had actual knowledge that [Lucas] was being harassed but turned a blind eye to the harassment. At one point King told W. [William/Billy] L., ‘If someone beat you up, I wouldn’t know whether to give him an award or suspend him.’ […] Ramp and Kovacich witnessed students harassing and bullying W.L. on multiple occasions yet did nothing to prevent or stop it.

In fact, Ramp and Kovacich not only ignored the harassment of W.L. by other students at the School, but in some cases encouraged and even actively participated in the harassment of W.L. themselves. Ramp and Kovacich verbally insulted, ridiculed, and abused W.L. in front of his peers on multiple occasions.”

Two years already. I hope this family is able to find peace in spite of such a terrible, unforgettable tragedy.

Today is my 22nd birthday, but I want to start my day by celebrating and remembering the LGBT youth across America. It may be painful right now, but hold on to that small dream that, someday, you may be something big.

Ann Romney on what "real voting issues" are

Anchor David Nelson:  "Here in Iowa, as you know, same-sex marriage is legal. Do you believe a lesbian mother should be allowed to marry her partner?"

Ann Romney:  "You know, I'm not going to talk about the specific issues. I'm going to let my husband speak on issues. I'm here to really just talk about my husband and what kind of husband and father he is and, you know, those are hot-button issues that distract from what the real voting issue is going to be at this election. That, it's going to be about the economy and jobs."

alexander mcqueen s/s 1999 rtw, in shalom harlow’s own words: “It almost became this like aggressive sexual experience in some way. And I think that this moment really encapsulates, in a way, how Alexander related to—at least at this particular moment—related to creation. Is that all of creation? Is that the act of a human being being created, the sexual act? Is it the act of, you know, the Big Bang, if you will, that violence and that chaos and that surrender that takes place?” - shalom harlow

Actor Kal Penn is campaigning hard for President Obama’s reelection and said his buddy Kevin’s boyfriend is his inspiration. Penn served for two years as Obama’s liaison to young Americans and repeatedly cited repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” as reason to rile up that important demographic during his speech.“I’m volunteering again now because my friend Matt got a job at a Detroit car company that still exists, and Lauren can get the prescription she needs,” Penn told the crowd. “I’m volunteering because Josiah is back from Iraq, Chris is finishing college on the GI Bill, and three weeks ago, my buddy Kevin’s boyfriend was able to watch him graduate from Marine Corps training. That’s change! And we can’t turn back now.”
